The Park
The Caiammari Hotel is situated in an extraordinary botanical garden, ideal for relaxing walks. The park, inspired by both exotic and Mediterranean vegetation, is made up of a rare collection of one hundred and five species. A guided tour will include the thirty impressive Canary palms - Phoenix canariensis - that form the main structure of the garden. Among the many species, a particularly spectacular tree is the Black Walnut, originating in North America, which was introduced into Europe in the eighteenth century and is rather rare in the Syracuse area.
Another rarity in the park is the presence of the male plant of Cycas revoluta, a plant that can only be seen in the English Garden in Palermo and of which only three other examples can be found in private gardens in the countryside of Modica. Among the shrubs of Mediterranean vegetation we can see both the Mastic - Pistacia lentiscus - and Myrtle - Mirtus communis - a symbol of fertility in ancient times that newlyweds were crowned with during wedding banquets. Nearby we have the scenic swimming pool area at Caiammari, consisting of two pools of different depths; one to cool down and relax in and which is suitable for children, the other for swimming.
